Great show - alt lyrics in Me and My Uncle?
This show smokes.
Just noticed that Bobby sings a couple of alternate lyrics in Me and My Uncle. At the key moment in the card game, I hear this:
One of them cowboys, he starts to draw,
Grabbed me a bottle, cracked him in the jaw,
Shot me another, Oh I think he won’t grow old.
In the confusion, my uncle grabbed the gold
I know Bobby varied the ending line quite a bit (sometimes singing "I left his dead ass there by the side of the road", other times "I left him lying there by the side of the road", or "I left him lying dead by the side of the road", etc.), but I can't think of another occasion when he sings that line about the bottle instead of "And I shot him down, Lord, he never saw."
Anyone else ever notice this?

The Other One
Character, quality and clarity the likes of which I've never heard before. And from there into Stella Blue in that sweet clean voice of Jerry's we fell in love with and now dearly recall from way, way back when . . .
Thank you, as always, Charlie Miller.

Set aside some time for this "Other One"
This show stands in the daunting shadow of 1972-09-09, but is still well worth some close attention.

Other one
Try 9-17-72 for a long other one, I think it's right at 40 minutes.

FOTD Short
FOTD is short because they play it at the original speed, not at a pace that is as slow as Stella Blue!!

"See you tomorrow night........"
Thank you (Mr.) Charlie.
Nice post-Europe '72 Dead.
Pigpen away trying to recover/rehearsing(maybe)/getting ready to make the final trip.
Everyone else (inc. my favourite Ivory Tinkler - Keith [the clue is in the name] GODchaux) still put on a very competent show.
Personal high points are the excellent versions of Jack Straw, FOTD and there is some very nice guitar/piano ad-libbing 2/3rds of the way through TIFTOO. That's just 3 of many - you will of course have your own.
The copy I took (currently seeding @ LLLs) had a few drop-outs scattered around Disc One but the rest was clean. Might have been my kit misbehaving.
5 star ratings are for something really special - no Pigpen (apologies accepted), no Dark Star, nothing really earth-shaking so 'oil' give it 4 - OK Cilla?
Either way a keeper, especially for those collectors and purveyors of '72 Dead.
I reserve the right to DELETE this review if it morphs into a turkey by the next time I read it.
